Road trip Day 14.

Yep. Still going. And baseball game 12 of 15 was a treat.
From the motel (a Days Inn this time) it was about a half hour drive to San Jose, where the Manchester Mystery House stands. If you don't know this house by name, I'm sure you have heard of some of the details before. Staircase to the ceiling. Door to Nowhere. 160 rooms. Yep. That's the one.
It is the product of a lady married to the 2nd president of Manchester Firearms. A little lady. Sub 5-foot. Anyhoo, she continuously constructed on her house for 38 years, until the day she died. 10,000 windows, 13 bathrooms, six kitchens and a single shower. Yep. One shower.
It was a sight to see. And the hour tour thru most of the rooms took more than a mile of walking. And we never went outside. And we never backtracked.
From there, a few hours drive to Sacramento to see a college friend was nice. Worth the drive for sure. On the way back, I took a drive thru downtown. Sacramento, California's capitol. I was a bit surprised at the size of the building; I guess the capitol in Austin is just the best, but maybe I'm just partial. Love me some Texas. And then on the way out, a cool drawbridge in downtown Sac. Painted gold for the gold rush. Or so I was told. Works for me.
I then headed back to Oakland for the final MLB stadium for California. Well, tis not a mlb stadium, just where the last MLB team happens to play...the Oakland-Alameda county coliseum. They win the prize for parking on the trip: $17. That was it. I asked if I just hit the money lot...nope. That was just the price for parking.
It improved when beers were $10. Yep. Hot dog was good though. And it turned out to be a hell of a game. From Toronto. Birds smokin. No hitter thru six. And a single home run was the only hit for Oakland. A Complete game one hitter was a treat to watch. And the fact that it was probably 55 degrees when the game concluded on August 16 was just awesome. Sorry, all you Houstonites. I'm enjoying this. Just make sure its cool when I get back.
Tomorrow I might have a surprise. Stay posted. Its also the only night off of baseball in a 16 day stretch. Might be a good thing.
