I decided to drive east a bit, and come up to the Sequoia NP from the south, and I think I'm full of switchbacks for the short term. Just about all day was switching back and fourth. Might be a good thing the the Giants game tomorrow is making me delay Yellowstone.
So I did drive through the quaint town of Lake Isabella, and drove thru the town before I realized I should eat. I turned around and risked the 'koffee shop' and had the small town breakfast spot experience. The place was 2/3 full, and the food was outstanding. I got called honey and sweetheart a number of times, and the service was very personal. If you go there, its on the corner of the only two major roads in town, northwest corner. If you go there, buy a bucket. For sale and a sample is sitting by the door on the gumball machines.
Then I hit the Sequoias. I think I took 50 pictures, and unfortunately I cam only share a few. I walked my happy ass down to the Sherman tree, and it delayed my arrival at Fresno for the game, but was worth it. I also hiked to the top of the point there, and it was a sight.
I was exceptionally surprised when I arrived in Fresno an inning late. Last nights game in Bakersfield was about the caliber of high school baseball. Tonights game was just short of major league quality. Almost 10,000 people were there; radio broadcast, video boards, upper deck from left field to right field; guess that's the difference between A and AAA stadiums. A quality experience. Not to mention. It was 5-2 after the first inning and ended 13-12 with a combined 31 hits. Then, a wrestling battle royal with mascots to win Wendy (yes, from Wendy's hamburgers) back from her captor. A full wrestling ring set up on the concourse. Kids ate it up. Frosty, Hot Dog, a chicken, and others were there. Seriously.
So anyway, I'm headed to San Fran tomorrow, for a 1:05 start versus Padres. I had planned Yellowstone for tomorrow, but it might have to wait. We'll see.
